FX Supervisor
Description
Works closely with the VFX
Supervisor and CG Supervisors to establish the working methodology of the FX
Department on the assigned show.
Main Duties
- Works closely with the
VFX Supervisor and film Director to design the film effects, from a
creative and technical point of view.
- Works closely with the
VFX Supervisor and CG Supervisors to establish the working methodology of
the FX Department on the assigned show.
- Works hand to hand
with Production bidding sequences, creating schedules, follow ups,
department quota, etc. and chooses best techniques for the effects.
- Responsible for
setting the elements of the movie that can be solved by simulations.
- Responsible of the
technical developments needed to execute the work of the department and
collaborate with the CG Supervisors to include these developments in the
studio pipeline.
- Works closely with the
Lighting and Compositing Supervisor to include the movie effects in the
shots.
- Is involved in final
modeling and the set up for Maya assets
- Create and deliver
show specific FX in a timely manner.
- Distribute the work to
his team according to the production schedule, ensuring that it will be
finished on time and with the standard of quality required.
- Approves all the shots
before VFX Supervisor checks them.
- Provide feedback to FX
artists on shots, request fixes and provide final approval before showing
to VFX Supervisor.
- Attend any relevant
meetings to promote effective communication throughout the production team
- Keep up on current
technology trends and tools (hardware and software) that best suit the
production (and the company) in the development of a stronger creative
technical environment
Professional Experience
- 3 years of experience
as a Supervisor or at least 5 years Lead FX Artists experience.
- Experience of 10 or
more years in animation films
- Experience
building new pipelines.
Qualification/knowledge
- Deep knowledge of CG
FX with software Maya and Houdini.
- Fluency programming in
scripting language: MEL, Python. C/C++ programming knowledge will be given
special consideration.
- Advanced knowledge of
compositing theory, concepts and techniques.
- Advanced English level
