Amazon Lumberyard is a free AAA game engine deeply integrated with AWS and Twitch – with full source. The Lumberyard team aspires to help game developers create the highest quality games, engage massive communities of fans, and connect their games to the vast compute and storage of the cloud.
As a Senior UX Designer, you will partner with product management, engineering, artists and game designers, creating engaging and user-friendly experiences that empower game developers to build the next generation of games. Game developers need the tools and services to collaborate, iterate, and scale efficiently to deliver more immersive and interactive experiences to players and fans. To be successful, you will apply strategic thinking to deliver end-to-end user-centered experiences, with the creativity and judgment to translate vision into concepts and designs that illustrate simplicity despite underlying complexity or constraints.
Responsibilities
· Contribute to the design of useful, usable, and desirable user interfaces in a team environment
· Create user-centered designs by considering market analysis, customer feedback and usability findings
· Use business requirements and customer research to assist in developing scenarios, use cases, and high-level requirements
· Design the visual style, interface, and interaction flow of applications and experiences
· Develop conceptual diagrams, wireframes, visual mockups, specifications, and prototypes
· Develop and maintain detailed user-interface specifications and design patterns
· Present design work to the user experience team, product team, and Amazon executives for review and feedback
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in product/interaction design, human factors, graphic design or related field.
· Portfolio with samples of work demonstrating user-centered and human-centered design
· 5+ years of experience as an interaction designer, user interface designer, or similar role with a high-volume, high-profile, or award-winning product.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Fluency and experience in the design thinking process
· Mastery in fundamental visual, typographic, and interaction design disciplines and principles.
· The ability to manage ambiguity, work autonomously and multi-task in an agile environment.
· Familiarity with game industry tools, such as Maya, 3DSMax, Unreal, Unity, etc.
· Experience designing for complex applications and/or workflows
· Experience creating or working with design systems (e.g. pattern library, reusable components) that are used across multiple designers, teams, and products
· Ability to distill complex concepts and then quickly turn around rigorous flows and design concepts (e. g., sketches, wireframes, mockups) reflecting a range of simple, elegant, and technically-feasible options
· Ability to drive the design review cycle and make decisions on design requirements independently
· Ability to work collaboratively with other UX designers on the team
