Cloud Systems Architect

At Technicolor FTV (MPC, Mill Film, Mr. X, Mikros) we serve the international movie, tv and broadcast industries by bringing the vision of some of the world’s most creative content makers to life. Due to continued growth, we are seeking a Cloud Systems Architect to join our talented global team. This is a senior technical position responsible for the architecture, costing strategies, scalability, analytics and operations strategy of our cloud infrastructure including high performance compute resources, cloud storage, networking and so on, primarily supporting the rendering of images from large datasets.

You’ll be working with top-notch systems administrators, software engineers and operators to support and improve the strategy for how we manage the cloud infrastructure; including our multiple cloud render farms and solutions worldwide. This architect role combines strategy, hands-on development and engineering with operational oversight to make sure Technicolor FTV remain competitive in the market, taking advantage of new technologies and ensure the best use of Technicolor’s considerable cloud resources.

You must be: 

• A smart, independent senior systems engineer, architect or above with at least five years of experience with cloud infrastructure 

• Keen to use and establish analytics and metrics to drive efficiencies, cost analysis and reporting, especially in a Film Production environment 

• Passionate about VFX and Film, although we are open to applicants from outside the industry

Responsibilities: 

• Being responsible for the architecture of our cloud infrastructure 

• Working with the global team to manage the resilience, availability and efficiency of the cloud infrastructure 

• Architecting and evolving how we configure and deploy our various cloud resources (compute, storage, sync and so on) 

• Direct involvement with how we invest in the future to ensure the competitiveness of the company 

• Regular reporting against key metrics of the various cloud resources 

• Working closely with the teams who develop and maintain our infrastructure technology, including software 

• Working with developers to ensure in-house software developments make the most of our cloud infrastructure 

• Working with various other subject matter experts from different disciplines to improve complex workloads, collaborating on cloud strategies 

• A key member of the team developing and executing MPC’s cloud strategy.
