Associate Chair of Visual Effects

Visual effects artists are masters of illusion, creating believable images that are impossible or impractical to shoot in the real world. You have the opportunity to help talented students make their own incredible dreams a reality as the associate chair of visual effects at SCAD Atlanta.
Ideal candidates possess a clear understanding of programming, shell scripting, 3-D lighting and rendering for visual effects. This includes MEL and Python scripting, shader writing, combining multipass CG images, and rendering with Arnold Renderer and Renderman. Familiarity with Linux is required and knowledge of Katana is a plus.

In this role, you will develop curriculum and evaluate professors within the department through class observations, review of student evaluations, service and professional development, and contributions to the departmental goals. You willl develop, implement and oversee the departmental budget, as well as provide professional development opportunities for professors. In addition to assisting with day-to-day administration of the visual effects department, you will foster interdepartmental collaboration and continue to enhance the reputation of the SCAD visual effects department in academic and professional circles. You will also teach classes as assigned.

Requirements:
- Terminal degree or its equivalent in visual effects or a related field
- College-level teaching experience preferred
