WildBrain Studios is looking for an experienced Background Cleanup Artist to join our team! You may have known us as DHX Media – we’ve recently changed our name to reflect our renewed commitment to pushing the creative and focusing on the artist experience. The role:
We’re searching for talented artists who have a passion for translating initial rough sketches into digital, final line drawings. We’re looking for portfolios that demonstrate variety, passion and a strong understanding of different animation styles.
You will get to:
- Use the initial location designer’s rough sketch, creating clean line work for 2D animation
- Create and submit multiple cleanup variations and revisions based on feedback from the Art Director, ensuring the quality and st yle of the show is upheld throughout
- Group and layer files in such a way to facilitate work for the colourists and BG Layout department

Specific skills we’d love to see…
- Previous experience in cleanup or design for a 2D animation production is a definite asset
- Proficiency in Photoshop and/or Toon Boom
- Strong drawing ability and a solid sense of background design for 2D animation
- Strong understanding of proportion, balance, perspective, dimension and dynamism
- Degree/Diploma from a recognized animation school is desired
