Junior UI Designer (Temp)

Description

Monolith Productions, a subsidiary of WB Games Inc., seeks a Junior UI Designer who has a passion for designing industry leading user interfaces. The Junior UI Designer works with a variety of team members to help design, create, implement and optimize UI assets for Monolith Productions industry leading AAA projects. They are responsible for working from specs to help create and implement the game interface. At times helping flesh out the design and filling in details as required. The Junior UI Designer must work with industry standard tools and our own proprietary tool set to ensure a high level of fit and finish to all UI elements.

Responsibilities: 

  • Working with the UI/UX and Creative Directors, UI Engineers, and Game designers, the Junior Designer will help design and shape the visual and functional aspects of the game’s interface needs. A fresh perspective and a passionate desire to help create top tier designs will be essential.
  • Helping create menus, icons, stats/inventory screens, in-game HUD elements, and animated motion graphics
  • Work in tandem with the UI/UX engineers and UI/UX Director, implement UI content into Monolith Productions Propriety engine using in-house tools.
  • Collaborate and communicate with Directors, Game designers, Producers & Engineers in the creation and implementation of the game UI.

Requirements:
  • Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification in applicable fields: Interactive Design, Graphic Design and/or Visual design.
  • Junior level graphic design and illustration skills.
  • Advanced visual design understanding with an awareness of the impact of typography, layout and composition, color theory, value structure, and visual hierarchy.
  • Proficiency in industry tools including Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent.
  • Technical ability to quickly learn and use complex authoring tools.
  • Strong organizational skills with adherence to optimization and asset management.
  • Able to work well under pressure and deadlines.
  • Positive attitude and a desire to bring new ideas to the team.
  • Able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of one or more types of 3D software (Maya, 3DS Max is preferred).
  • Capability in 2D-2.5D motion graphic software packages (After Effects, Animate).
  • Capability in prototyping tools (XD, Axure, FramerX, Sketch).
  • Industry experience using authoring tools such as Unity, Unreal, or proprietary tools.
  • Strong understanding of modern pop culture trends within the entertainment industry with an ability to successfully apply to UI art style as needed.
  • Passion for making and playing great games, with an awareness of current titles and industry trends.
  • Other Requirements
  • Portfolio/website demonstrating exceptional graphic and illustration design sensibilities, and attention to detail.
