Position Summary:
The Hillier College of Architecture and Design is a dynamic College within the
STEM-focused New Jersey Institute of Technology. As a design College, we thrive
on creativity, experimentation, hard work, dedication, and the success of our
students and alumni. In higher education, our work schedules ebb and flow with
the academic calendar and in preparation for special events, alumni engagement
and the accreditations that keep us current with industry standards. In this
role, you will be part of a team that is building for the future, uses

graduating students who work in or start their own architectural firms, movie
and film production companies, interior design firms, product design firms, and
design and animation firms. We are looking for someone who is ready to dive in

the myriad rewards from that work. The Communications Coordinator will support
the Dean and the Hillier College of Architecture and Design by working in conjunction
with the Office for Strategic Communications to develop and build a brand for
the college that speaks to recruiting, alumni engagement, professional practice
and higher education audiences. Specific projects will include, but are not
limited to: generating and editing written and visual promotional material
about the College, faculty, and students; compiling and editing reports for
external audiences including accreditors; Hillier College web profile
management, search engine optimization, third party reporting sites; social
media, and content systems support as assigned by the Dean. This person will
have a key role in all external communications and actively pursue
opportunities to promote the College.
Essential Functions:
Write, edit, and distribute content, including publications, press releases,
website content, annual reports, speeches, and other marketing material that
communicates the Hillier Colleges' activities, products and/or services.
Collaborate closely with the Office of Strategic Communications. Seek
opportunities to enhance the reputation of the brand, and coordinate publicity
events. Maintain records of media coverage and collate analytics and metrics.
Proactively manage and maintain the College's social media feed. Interact with
faculty and the leaders of the various student organizations to drive media
content. Coordinate publicity around recruitment and retention strategies with
the two Schools within the College.
Additional Functions:
Collaborate with management to develop and implement an effective
communications strategy based on our target audience. Manage digital course
evidence repository and curate a selection of student design work for
publication to maintain an evergreen web and print media presence. Work
collaboratively with the administrative support staff to ensure all activities
requiring publicity are communicated appropriately throughout the College.
Manage periodic accreditation reporting and accreditation team visit logistics.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with 3 years of related experience in a communications role
or related field Proficiency in Basic Desktop Publishing, Microsoft Office
including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite At the university's
discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be accepted where
the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an
equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the
candidate for success in the position.
