Level Designer

DESCRIPTION:

Deck Nine Games is looking for a Junior Level Designer to help craft an interactive cinematic video game for a AAA publisher. The right candidate is a collaborative game designer with a strong sense of game feel and flow as well as an eye for the visual design of realistic environments. Come join us in sunny Westminster, Colorado, and help us make unforgettable narrative gameplay experiences.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with writers, artists, and programmers on the vision for a level.
  • Develop and iterate on level layouts considering both gameplay and story concerns.
  • Create and iterate on 3D prototypes of spaces considering level flow and cinematic opportunities.
  • Collaborate with writers to design puzzles and gameplay scenarios that complement a story-driven experience.
  • Construct a final level experience that is easily readable, playable, and has a strong flow.
  • Do high quality creative work in a fast paced development environment.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrable level design experience on full-scale game projects.
  • 1+ years industry experience is a plus.
  • Experience working in a highly collaborative team environment.
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine 4 or other similar 3D level editors.
  • Strong logical problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work with Unreal Engine 4 Blueprints or other scripting languages and systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with 3D applications for building prototype levels.
  • Must have a passion for telling stories through gameplay.
Position is full time, on-site and applicants must already be authorized to work in the U.S.
