Mid-Level CGI Artist

Overview:
Artjail is seeking a Mid-Level CG Artist to work on 3D projects. The ideal candidate would be a generalist with a strong focus in lighting. The position will work closely with the Head of CG. This role will be groomed to a lead position. Starting off overseeing smaller 3d projects, with over-site form the head of department. Then leading larger scale jobs. Other responsibilities include file organization, maintaining workflow, freelancer management, and following production procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Head of CG
- Managing smaller scale CG Projects
- Work with Producers and Head of CG to evaluate job requirements, estimate resources, and schedule
- Documentation of workflow procedures
- Oversee freelance artists within the CG team
- Creating high end CGI
- Continually evaluate, assess, and correct trends in the workflow
- Identify current technical challenges and forecasts future requirements for critical workflow optimization
- Monitor and analyze the technical CG procedures. Propose and implement modifications as needed
- Participate in review and approval meetings by clarifying direction and creative goals and ensuring that technical and schedule requirements are met
- Quality assurance of assets going out to other departments or to client
Requirements:
- 4+ years proven experience at a VFX or Animation studio
- Degree in Visual Art, Animation, or equivalent experience
Skills:
- A thorough understanding of, and actively researching, current and future movements in the film and video production and post production
- A thorough understanding of all stages of the CG post-production process
- A thorough understanding of the compositing process
- A thorough understanding of processing set and shoot data
- Exceptional skill set(s) in Maya with an overall knowledge of modeling, texturing, rigging, animation, look-dev, lighting, rendering, and FX - coding in MEL, Python, VEX is a major plus
