Render Wrangler

DESCRIPTION:

The Render Wrangler works with producers and artists to ensure shots are being tracked, rendered and delivered according to deadlines. The successful candidate will be required to work a shift adjusted schedule and will support the Technical Director and Systems Administrator.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensuring that render jobs are properly prioritized in the queue system so that project goals are met.
• Monitoring rendering quality and quantity, as well as making the required corrections when needed;
• Communicating with the production team outstanding issues, as well as overall render performance and efficiency.
• Script tools to automate common tasks and improve workflow
• Create and distribute weekly render reports
• Render Wrangler support is typically required after hours and on specific weekends depending on project demands

REQUIREMENTS:

• Previous work experience as a Render Wrangler preferred
• Minimum 1 year of experience within the VFX industry is desirable 
• Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Computer animation and/or Information Technology or equivalent professional experience
• Understanding of VFX Pipeline for feature film & television productions 
• Awareness of visual effects processes and CG workflow is helpful
• Familiarity with LINUX / UNIX environments;
• Production Skills with CG lighting;
• Comfortable with Cloud Rendering Services
• Knowledge of production management software such as Shotgun is beneficial
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python is valuable
• Check errors and troubleshoot a wide variety of technical problems
• Experience with Maya, Houdini, and Nuke is an 
• Comprehension of a render farm manager, such as Tractor or Qube, is a plus;
• Capable of prioritizing, meeting tight deadlines and dealing with heavy workload
• Ability to work both autonomously and within a team environment
• Strong communication skills are critical
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
