DESCRIPTION:

The VFX Head of Production is responsible for the management of all production throughout the studio as well as the team of Producers. Alongside the VFX Supervisors and Lead Creatives, the Head of Production is a key management role, integral to the success of the studio. The HOP acts as an ambassador and promotes a professional, creative and vibrant environment to the local industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage and mentor Producers, Production Managers, Production Coordinators and HR Department to enable them to fulfill their roles successfully
• Handle all global schedules with the producers and troubleshoot issues as they arise
• Maintain an overview of all VFX producers’ schedules , ensuring projects are completed within given targets
• Responsible for working with Producers to set approved budgets at start of project
• Oversee liaison with clients in areas of responsibility and budgets
• Work with the finance department to monitor all budgets on projects in collaboration with Producers
• Evaluate production needs, allocate relevant Producers, production teams and resources to each project
• Assess crew needs and asset allocation for the studio as a whole
• Propose and execute long-term strategic plans for studio capacity and resource planning
• Make decisions on production priorities and communicate these to the various teams
• Share information on the upcoming projects currently being bidding on
• Work with the HR Department and Heads of Departments in the review and selection of prospective production candidates
• In collaboration with the HR Department, participate to the remuneration review process, the contract renewal process for the VFX team as well as the revision process of the salary grid
• Engage the production team with mentoring and support
• Promote a professional, creative and vibrant working environment within the company
• Lead Producers, Supervisors and Heads of Departments to enable them to achieve results through their respective teams
• The key point of contact for escalating issues arising in productions and recommendations to senior management
• Supervise and support producers with clients when show specific issues arise
• Identify, flag and provide potential solutions on issues on the floor (teams/resources, operations, production, clients, etc.
• Manage and monitor the production pipeline and workflows to ensure compliance of projects
• Distinguish and implement measures to improve efficiency in all areas of production
• Collaborate with the support teams and heads of departments to ensure interdepartmental processes and procedures are seamless
• Ensure standardization and consistency of work and efficient communication

REQUIREMENTS:

• 10 years+ in VFX Industry and in a Senior Production role
• Comprehensive knowledge of and post-production process and the VFX pipeline
• Demonstrated track record of a dedicated and supportive leader that can promote positive change and development within an establishment
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal; capable of communicating successfully with producers, clients, leadership team and vfx artists
• Excellent organizational skills, proficient at using scheduling, project & resource management tools, and handling several projects at once
• Composed in high-pressure situations, takes initiative, used to meeting tight deadlines, creative problem solver and out of the box thinker
