Position Overview
This position combines your skills as a software developer with your experience creating solutions within a VFX or Animation pipeline.

You do much more than write code. You understand the right application of technologies within the industry. You are a problem solver, you work well with others, communicate effectively, manage requirements, architect, design, breakdown, plan, code, build, test, deploy, profile, fix, document and more. As software development principles transcend their application, the ability to demonstrate a strong proficiency in all aspects of software development is required over any specific technology or skill set.

At RSP you may work solely on smaller projects, and as part of a team on larger projects. In all cases you take ownership of your work by clearly planning, executing and validating your development against the requirements of the project, and in many cases help define those requirements in the first place. You must work well with others, be proactive and take responsibility for your work as you seek to add value.

Responsibilities
  • Develop new software or improve existing software inline with the overall Production Technology strategy.
  • Communicate and work well with the team and those you’re writing the software for.
  • Interpret and/or defining requirements to clearly understand the problem your software is solving.
  • Create design documents, breakdown and plan your work as required.
  • Improve and/or conform to software development best practices.
  • Develop, test and release software that meets requirements.
  • Contribute technical and user facing documentation.
Required Skills and Experience
  • 5+ years of Software Development experience.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Development, Software Engineering or equivalent.
  • Visual effects, animation or equivalent experience and familiarity with the commercial and open source software commonly used across the industry.
  • Expertise in computer graphics.
  • Expertise in some of the following: distributed computing, databases, digital asset management, business logic / workflow, runtime and application environments, software infrastructure and architecture or UX design.
  • Proficiency in all aspects of software development, including the use of tools for code management (svn), code review (crucible/fisheye), continuous integration (jenkins) and project management (jira).
  • Required technical competencies:
    • Code in Python and C++.
    • UX Design in QT.
    • Linux operating system.
