Part Time Professor of Motion Media Design

Description

From titles and promos for movies and TV shows to advertising campaigns and projection mapping for live events, SCAD motion media design students create content for screens of all sizes, and sometimes turn any surface into a screen. The numerous achievements of SCAD’s motion media design students – from top honors at the Art Directors Club Awards and Red Dot Communication Design Awards to the red carpet, where an interdisciplinary team of students won the 2017 Student Emmy Award for ‘Best Scripted Series’ – evince the professional focus imbued in the SCAD academic experience.

As a part-time professor of motion media design, you have the opportunity to join the “Best Motion Graphics School” ranked by The Rookies in 2017. The SCAD team of motion media design faculty mirror professional practices of the industry in their classes and engage students through a comprehensive, interdisciplinary course of study including animation, film and television, graphic design, visual effects, user experience design and more.

Preparing the next generation of creative professionals, you should be an enthusiastic educator who possesses passion for design, a strong desire to share knowledge through experience and persistence, and the ability to encourage students to think creatively and critically. The ideal candidate will have a background in projection mapping, augmented reality and virtual reality, and the ability to synthesize these emerging fields to create new experiences and destinations.

Listed by Moviemaker Magazine as one of best big cities to live and work as a filmmaker, Atlanta is one of the fastest growing cities in the U.S. and provides entertainment professionals an ideal environment to live, work and play. Located in the heart of Midtown, SCAD Atlanta is home to a dynamic cultural landscape that includes theaters, museums, fine art galleries, bustling shops and countless green spaces, including Piedmont Park and Atlanta’s famed BeltLine. The capital of the New South, Atlanta provides both southern charm and the ebb and flow of an alpha city.

Requirements:

• Terminal degree or its equivalent in motion media design, motion graphics, broadcast design, animation, visual effects or a related digital media or visual communication arts field
• Professional portfolio of work that reflects advanced knowledge in motion media design
• University-level teaching experience preferred
• Experience with film and/or television, augmented reality, virtual reality and projection mapping preferred
