The Digital Art Director is a hands-on creative digital media designer with a proven aesthetic and portfolio. This role requires a honed eye and proven experience in shaping world class story driven experiences across large canvases that entertain and immerse large audiences. You will be establishing and developing a richly textured aesthetic, building recognizable visual design systems and building transportive worlds as a key role in the Immersive team at MSG Sphere Studios.

Specific Functions/Activities:

  • Lead the visual development and execution of creative concepts and deliverables, with a hands-on approach to art direction, overall form, materiality and the nexus of digital within Immersive at Sphere
  • Bring to life concepts and strategies through visual narratives in multiple forms
  • Be a key player in the research, visual development and delivery of creative pitches & proposals
  • Partner with Creative Directors and the Immersive Art Director to concept and create
    experience-oriented design solutions that fulfill strategic objectives
  • Work with the Creative Director and the Immersive Art Director to respond to client & stakeholder feedback; help to steward the creative integrity of projects
  • Partner with the production team to ensure that concepts and designs are achievable within budget and timescale.
  • Partner with production teams to drive the creative quality and specifications of installations and activations at Sphere
  • Champion and support the design process, ensuring design goals and experience principles are upheld
  • Be a foundational lead of digital art direction for the immersive team, building and leading a team of exceptionally talented designers
Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience in developing innovative and engaging experiential digital concepts across digital platforms 
  • Demonstrated creative and design excellence with career progression in your portfolio
  • Proven track record of working in experiential digital activations at scale, with experience in live events, immersive experiences with brand and cultural clients preferred
  • Expert at visualizing concepts across a wide range of mediums
  • Advanced Proficiency in relevant design software (ex. Photoshop, Illustrator, Keynote, After Effects, and/or 3D software etc.) 
  • Expert in sketch/ illustration and art direction
  • Demonstrated ability in written communication and presentation copy writing
  • Articulate and charismatic speaker who can lead discussions and captivate a room
  • Objective listening skills with the ability to formulate information into concepts and designs that are technically and economically viable
  • Reliable decision-making capabilities, based on solid understanding of how to balance creative expression, pragmatic design, and business needs
  • Strategic and agile thinker who can pivot the creative and evolve design to meet shifting needs
