Technical Artist

What We Need:

Our Foothill Ranch studio is looking for an experienced Technical Artist to contribute to the next iteration of the award-winning NBA 2K franchise. In this role, you will be responsible for converting ideas into functional tools that will make the lives of artists better – including bridging the gap between art and engineering. Our Technical Artist is a clear communicator who champions improvements of every aspect of artist life and productivity and can act on these ideas.

What You Will Do:

  • Work with the art and engineering departments to understand project requirements
  • Work with the art team to prioritize and develop procedural assets to streamline art processes, workflows, and pipelines
  • Shape our in-house tools to fulfill latest requirements and suggestions
  • Proactively research and prototype new techniques to improve efficiency of content production

Who We Think Will Be A Great Fit:

  • 2+ years of experience on commercial game projects or in a related field
  • At least one shipped game title, preferably AAA, working in a technical role
  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience
  • Strong Python scripting experience on a shipped game title or in a related field
  • Comfortable with Maya Tools and broad Maya experience
  • Character rigging experience in Maya, hero characters preferred
  • Familiarity with Perforce and P4Python API
  • Strong interest and ability to learn new processes and techniques
  • Proven ability to work well within a team atmosphere
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask

Nice To Have:

  • Familiarity with Shotgun and its Toolkit API
  • Experience writing Maya plugins
