The Sr. Cloud Engineer provides engineering and operational support for cloud infrastructure to ensure application performance and availability.?They facilitate all cloud technology services in support of Studio technology, including external-facing application connectivity and performance. He/She maintains up to date knowledge and expertise on the latest cloud technology and industry trends and is responsible for administration, remote access, security, application availability, patching, performance, capacity, and backups. Expertise is required in storage (cloud and on premises), server hardware, virtualization, load balancing, network management and security infrastructure. This role requires in-depth research into industry best practices and latest cloud technology to ensure compliance, governance, and security are maintained for both on premise and within the cloud. 

This position will also mentor staff members in an effort to develop excellent cloud computing skills. 

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS/ACTIVITIES:   

  • Server and cloud management solutions (Azure & AWS) 

  • Strong knowledge of Media workflows with solid working knowledge of critical Studio and/or Broadcast environments including dynamic scaling of Render to the cloud, namespace management and cloud-native PCoIP technologies  

  • Hyper-converged infrastructure hardware and software 

  • Proficiency with VMware, containerization and serverless environments; preferably in an M&E related industry 

  • Operating systems such as Microsoft Windows and RedHat Linux (performance tuned for high throughput render/VFX use cases) 

  • Strong knowledge of web and application server configuration (Java, Apache, or similar) 

  • PowerShell, Java, and other programming languages for automation 

  • Experience with Json, Terraform, Cloud Foundation and/or any other cloud automation tools 

  • Infrastructure services, such as DNS, DHCP, LDAP, Active Directory, FTP and SQL databases  

  • Knowledge of the ITIL framework or similar models for IT workflow 

  • Knowledge of DevOps culture, methodologies and technologies preferred 

  • Strong knowledge in Microsoft stack technology such as MS OS (Server 2012/2016, MS SQL 2014, and End Client OS) 

  • Strong knowledge of Identity and Access Management solutions 

  • Strong planning, execution, and analytical skills 

  • Strong communication skills 

  • Ability to present technical concepts in an easy to understand manner. 

  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative and cross-functional environment 

  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy laws and practices 

  • Candidate performs various complex software development tasks. They ensure delivery of contract capabilities using industry standards and repeatable processes. 

  • Designs and implements highly resilient and failure proof network solutions with the ability to withstand system failures, faulty code and other infrastructure impairments – thinks with a global mindset and “never fail” mentality when implementing solutions 

  • Designs virtual network services in support of highly leveraged rendering/stitching workloads as well as isolated segments dedicated to fit for purpose use cases (i.e. development, playback, sound encoding, etc.) – experience designing for quality of service and micro-services across the network 

  • Create a program to visualize the performance of the network, monitor for health and report on problem areas 

  • Works with Network Engineer to design networks for automation and intelligence – embraces the opportunities for machine learning and other advanced intelligent platforms to drive outcomes 

  • Works closely with the Director Studio Technology to create capital and operational budgets that pertain to the equipment and services in use within the network infrastructure and Venue Technology Teams 

  • Establishes testing strategy, standards and/or objectives in alignment with company enterprise IT objectives 

  • Ensure stable and reliable ISP network services (e.g. access products, service networks and core network  

  • Day-to-day network performance monitoring  

  • Network troubleshooting and fault analysis; hardware troubleshooting and repair  

  • Trouble ticket generation and response; carrier interface and escalations  

  • Deployment and maintenance of network monitoring, analysis and reporting tools  

  • Application of configuration changes via our change control systems and processes  

  • Installation of network hardware and software 

  • Participate in a 24x7 call-out rotation 

QUALIFICATIONS:   

  • At least 7-10 years of cloud industry specific experience – applicant must be “hands on keyboard” with the ability to technically troubleshoot workload related traffic real-time 

  • 3-5 years related work experience with Azure and AWS 

  • 3-5 years’ related experience as a network or systems engineer/administrator with experience in Windows or Linux server operating systems, creative pipeline, network hardware, enterprise storage and virtualization 

  • Success working in a fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or computer engineering is preferred or equivalent experience 

  • Must be fluent in all aspect of network security and security elements – supported networks with proper controls and governance from conception to execution 

SUPERVISION:   

  • Role is an individual contributor role but may teach and lead Operational initiatives. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:  

  • Candidate selected may have to travel several times throughout the year to other business locations. 

  • On-Call rotation with other team members
