The Server/Storage Operations Engineer will work with design and engineering teams to have an all-round understanding of Server/Storage infrastructure, media workloads and the criticality of an “always on” Studio environment. The Server/Storage Operations Engineer will be responsible for resolving complex issues that involve analyzing server/storage logs, troubleshooting hardwaresupporting and maintaining all infrastructure for MSG Production Studio and content creation needsThis role is the crucial point of contact between the Production Studio Technology team and other internal departments. The engineer must work towards improving the quality of support for all creative workloads and media related computation. 

The Server/Storage Operations Engineer will offer Level 2 and Level 3 Server/Storage Support that includes operation and change management, fulfils the request for Server and Storage such as and not limited to Hyperconverged infrastructureNAS, SAN and VMWare. Server/Storage Operations Engineer will examine, evaluate and monitor the incoming Server/Storage change requests. 

This position will also mentor team members in an effort to develop excellent enterprise infrastructure skills. 

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS/ACTIVITIES:   

  • The Server/Storage Operations Engineer ensures that systems are optimized for the utilization of storage systems and resource allocation. Identifies and repair the internal errors and capacity management for all infrastructure environments. They act as a technical specialist for troubleshooting and incident management during service interruptions. 

  • The Server/Storage Operations Engineer is responsible for documenting and maintaining Hyperconverged infrastructure drawings and equipment lists accurately. They have primary responsibility of the technical documentation of the infrastructure changes. The Server/Storage Operations Engineer conducts a periodic review of upgraded system firmware, application software and patching of the OS

  • The Server/Storage Operations Engineer is responsible for creating production support availability, outages, Runbooks, Process documentation and status reports. They work in coordination with other support teams to recognize and record monitoring and measurement requirements. The Sever/Storage Operations Engineer provides administration and reporting services in the areas of incident and problem management.  

  • This job involves tackling various infrastructure issues and contributing to the smooth functioning of the organization. The engineer will interact with the technical support, managed support and service provisioning teams. The professional will offer first-line Infrastructure management support. They are responsible for high-level infrastructure operations. 

  • The Server/Storage Operations Engineer will offer technical assistance in regard to hyperconverged, virtual and storage design, implementation, and integration of infrastructure changes. He/She will help in designing and implementing analytical research, design development, and another assignment. He/She performs various complex software development tasks. They ensure delivery of contract capabilities using industry standards and repeatable processes. 

  • Supports all virtual environments for business applications and communication platforms 

  • Create a program to visualize the performance of the Infrastructure, monitor for health and report on problem areas 

  • Works with Server/Storage Engineering to design and implement Server/Storage for automation and intelligence – embraces the opportunities for machine learning and other advanced intelligent platforms to drive outcomes 

  • Establishes testing strategy, standards and/or objectives in alignment with company enterprise IT objectives 

  • Day-to-day server/storage performance monitoring with the understanding that business is “always on” requiring the highest level of attentiveness for scale, speed and throughput.  

  • Server/Storage troubleshooting and fault analysis; hardware troubleshooting and repair  

  • Trouble ticket generation and response; monitoring interface and escalations  

  • Deployment and maintenance of server/storage monitoring, analysis, and reporting tools  

  • Application of configuration changes via our change control systems and processes   

  • Installation and maintenance of server/storage hardware and software 

  • Participate in a 24x7 call-out rotation 

QUALIFICATIONS:   

  • At least 5 years of enterprise infrastructure operations experience – applicant must be “hands on keyboard” with the ability to technically troubleshoot server/storage related outages 

  • Previous experience at an enterprise level company supporting all infrastructure with absolute fault tolerance in mind 

  • Proven hands-on experience deploying various tool sets which support monitoring and alerting across diverse platforms – has integration experience working with event correlation platforms and ticketing systems such as ServiceNow 

  • 3 years of vendor management experience preferred but not required 

  • 3-5 years’ experience supporting Media & Entertainment, Studio and post-production environments. 

  • 5 years of working with enterprise systems platforms such as compute, storage, data centers and automation 

  • Experience with advanced server/storage operations utilizing various product platforms such as VMWareNutanixTeradiciAWS, Azure, EMCNetApp and Qumulo 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or computer engineering is preferred or equivalent experience 

SUPERVISION:   

  • Role is an individual contributor role but may mentor team members and lead Operational initiatives 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:  

  • Candidate selected may have to travel several times throughout the year to other business locations 

  • On-Call rotation with other team members
