Senior Level Designer

JOB DESCRIPTION:

As part of its development, Quantic Dream is looking for talented people to join its team on its next ambitious productions.

Attached to the Game Design/Lead Game Designer department, we are looking for a Senior Level Designer in charge of the design of part of the missions and/or maps of the game.

In close collaboration with the rest of the Game Design/Lead Game Designer team, your responsibilities will be as follows:

 

  • Oversee the paper design of Level Design of maps in open environment (Templates, simulation of level design bricks, walkthrough).  
  • Propose and integrate scenarios or mission environment integrating Gameplay elements defined by Game Designers  
  • Prototype environment, establish plots (layout) and provide an use of the interactive and not interactive means in order to create the desired emotion for the player.  
  • Validate the environment gameplay with the Testers, Level Artists. and Gameplay Programmers  
  • Communicate the result of the prototype to other roles/teams in order to validate the intentions and have the technical feasibility and quality of the maps assessed.  
  • As the project progresses, integrate all of the produced elements in its map (new gameplay, AI, sound, etc.) by ensuring level building in the editor in order to gradually model a  3D map template corresponding to the paper design  intentions and GDD, allowing Artists to bring their intentions/artistic directions/props , etc. without impacting the gameplay.  
  • Control the accessibility, understanding and level of difficulty of your level/map.  
  • Assist the Lead Game Designer on transversal missions and be a driving force within the Game Design team.

PROFILE:
  • You have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Level Design on an open environment game and/or a multiplayer game ideally.
  • You have very good logical sense and great rigor in order to be able to schematize the complexity of the game design.
  • You are organized and efficient to achieve the objectives.
  • Dynamic, responsive, and involved, you are passionate about video games and have a good video-game culture.
  • As you will be in contact with many stakeholders and departments, very good interpersonal skills are essential.
  • As you will have a central role in advancing the levels entrusted to you, you will have to show initiative and autonomy.
  • You are familiar with tools integrations.

We are also considered to be one of the leading motion capture studios, especially for the creation of real-time 3D Virtual Actors performing with stunning realism.

Since 2006, we have developed the three award-winning and multimillion selling Playstation titles HEAVY RAIN (PS3/PS4), BEYOND: TWO SOULS (PS3/PS4) and DETROIT: BECOME HUMAN (PS4).

Detroit: Become Human, which released on May 25th 2018 on PLAYSTATION 4, is Quantic Dream’s fastest selling title to date, having sold in excess of 1 million units in its first two weeks on shelves. Heavy Rain, which released in February 2010 and won three BAFTA and DICE awards, remains our bestselling title so far, with combined sales of over 5 million units worldwide on PS3 and PS4.

We are currently working on several unannounced titles.
