Senior Technical Artist

Bit Fry Game Studios is creating high-energy, action-packed, character-driven games using the Unreal 4 Engine. Your skills and experience will help bring together the art and programming teams and drive the content pipeline that brings these games to life.

As a senior technical artist, you will work with the technical art team to provide support to artists while expanding the content pipeline and processes

Responsibilities

• Assist both art and programming teams on various tasks
• When needed, assist with integrating and setting up character assets in UE4
• Assure that assets are of the highest technical quality
• Act as a technical contact and solve various technical issues that arise related to asset production
• Maintain, optimize, and expand on existing asset pipeline tools
• Create and maintain technical documentation for tools and processes

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in a technical art position in the video game industry
• Proficient with Python/Mel
• General programming knowledge (C#, C++, etc)
• UE4 Blueprint scripting experience
• Proficiency with Photoshop, After Effects, Houdini, Substance Painter/Designer, and other content creation tools
• Experienced in tools/pipeline scripting
• Experience creating UE4 materials
• General UE4 experience
• Understanding of PBR materials and theory
• Proficiency with Maya/Max (Or other modeling software)
• Comfortable with general 3D content creation for games, including modeling, UVs, texturing, etc.
• General artistic proficiency
• Experience writing extensive technical and process documentation
• Has used version control software such as Perforce

Desired Qualifications

• Strong creative thinking and problem-solving skills
• Solid knowledge of performance optimization for visuals such as materials and VFX
• Experience with real-time VFX and particle systems
• Experience with UE4’s Python API
• Familiarity with rigging and rigging tools creation in Maya
• Experience writing HLSL/GLSL shaders
