Virtual Art Department Environment Artist

We work in a virtual production pipeline in partnership with Weta Digital.  We are looking for  3D artists with a focus on environment creation. 

 

Job responsibilities include:

·      Assembling both hard surface and organic environments to fit within established designs from Production Designers and Director.

·      Troubleshooting environments and maintaining them to stay within prescribed frame rate, memory constraints to ensure compatibility with our motion capture process.

·      Organizing and prepping existing environments for performance capture, virtual and live action camera, and turnovers to our vendor.

·      Update or manipulate existing assets to fit the creative needs of the Director.

 

Having a knowledge of effects, animation, rigging and/or character work is a plus. Communication skills are important as you will be working with the Director, Supervisors, a team of developers, numerous CG artists, Production Designers and production personnel. You should be driven, positive and interested in the opportunity to learn while adapting to the changing needs of the production. 


This is a long-term position in a friendly, creative, and collaborative working environment.
We provide competitive compensation based on your experience level as well as medical, dental and vision insurance. While we are currently working remotely, we do ask that candidates live in the Los Angeles area for when we do return to our facility in Manhattan Beach, CA.

Requirements

·      Proficiency in Maya.

·      Quick learner in an established, proprietary pipeline

·      Experience in one or more of the following: VFX, Games, Entertainment, 3D Graphics, Simulation, Visualization.

·      Expertise in environment layout and lighting

Preferred

·      Experience in a 3D pipeline, at a high-end Visual Effects or Video Games facility.

·      Experience with creating art/game content.

·      Proficiency in Linux, MotionBuilder, Photoshop, Substance Painter 

·      Prior experience working within a real time render engine
