Engine Programmer

Deck Nine Games is looking to hire a talented Senior Engine Programmer to help us build and deliver an unannounced AAA single-player adventure game.

Located near Boulder, Colorado, Deck Nine Games is a BAFTA and VGA nominated developer of narrative adventure games. Always innovating, we're growing and are seeking highly qualified programmers to join our amazing team.

Our programmers are in creative positions that collaborate closely across disciplines with some of the most passionate developers in the world.

Currently the studio is remote, waiting until it is safe to return to the office. For this position we would consider both onsite and fully remote applicants.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with talented artists and programmers to make amazing games that play and perform well on a wide range of platforms
• Design and implement platform features
• Optimize the game to run the best it can with the greatest quality we can achieve
• Help direct design and content decisions based on engine and platform restrictions and best practices
• Research and take advantage of latest engine techniques and platform features
• Mentor and grow more junior team members

Requirements & Skills:

• Senior-level experience in the console/PC industry
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Physics, Math, or equivalent
• A passion for optimizing both performance and memory and a desire to squeeze the most of hardware
• Strong knowledge of C++ programming language
• Expertise on at least one current gen platform
• Shipped games on a range of platforms
• Unreal 4 experience
• Be a driven, motivated personality that wants to make great games

Pluses:

• AAA games experience
• Asset streaming and LOD experience
• Experience working with publishing tools with Platform Holders
• Nintendo Switch experience
• Familiarity with GPU and CPU hardware

Our first narrative game, Life is Strange: Before the Storm is loved by fans and has won multiple awards, including Game of Year and was nominated for both a VGA and a BAFTA. The studio is 100+ people and is in sunny Westminster, Colorado at the base of the Rocky Mountains. We hope to share more information about our next title with Square Enix as soon as we can.
