Position Overview
SideFX is seeking an intermediate to senior software developer to join a team dedicated to providing frameworks and workflows for Houdini as part of a next generation art pipeline.
As a member of the SideFX Research and Development group, you would be working with the some of the brightest minds in the CG industry. Our R&D team has received many prestigious industry awards, including four Technical Achievement Awards from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, an Academy Award of Merit (Oscar®), a Technology and Engineering Emmy® Award from NATAS, and four back-to-back Editor's Choice Innovation Awards from CG World Magazine. Movies using our toolset have received the Oscar® for Best Visual Effects every year in the past two decades. We share a passion for innovation in computer graphics and a drive for excellence in animation. Key Duties and Responsibilities*
- Research and develop technologies for distributed and cloud computing for Houdini applications
- Keep up to date on the state of the art for distributed art pipelines
- Collaborate with R&D, artists and other stakeholders to produce the next generation of frameworks and workflows
- Provide ongoing technical support to game and film studios in your area of responsibility
- Other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of professional experience as a software developer
- Computer Science degree or equivalent industry experience, with a record of academic and professional excellence
- Strong knowledge of modern C++ programming
- Strong knowledge of Python programming
- Working knowledge of network programming
- Proficient with concurrent programming models
- Ability to work and solve problems independently and as part of a distributed team
- Excellent verbal and written communication
Bonus Skills
- Working knowledge of Houdini
- Experience with cross platform development
- Experience with cloud-based technologies
- Proficient with 3D programming and associated linear algebra
- Familiarity of workflows in 3D DCC pipelines
