Role Summary

The 3D Concept Artist will be an integral member of a creative development team, visualizing early concepts across a gamut of immersive and experiential projects. The ideal candidate is forward thinking, values innovation and enjoys pushing through creative boundaries. A keen eye for lighting and rendering techniques is a major part of this artist’s toolkit. This candidate would have deep knowledge of current render engines and can optimize for high resolution output.  Current look dev teams are exploring the unique creative language that will exist within the many transformative spaces at The Sphere, and this creative 3D generalist will be the next complimentary member of that team. Specific Functions/Activities:

  • Advanced knowledge of creative 3D software primarily Cinema 4D with ancillary software knowledge beneficial (e.g. Zbrush, Maya, Modo, SketchUp, 3D Studio Max, Unreal, Blender etc); journeyman knowledge of 2D Adobe Suite a plus 
  • Advanced knowledge of Lighting and Rendering techniques ( Octane, RedShift, Arnold, etc.. )  
  • Able to optimize lighting/textures for high resolution render output.  
  • Able to take a seed of an idea and flush out all aspects of the design, at times independently and other times collaboratively with design team. This may include specific assignments such as: 
  • Visualizations of creative use of exterior and interior spaces at The Sphere; this may include iterative concepts around existing designs as well as additional structures and/or props 
  • Potential for some 3D pre-visualization of key creative concepts, both model and animation 
  • Potential for main show creative development and creative immersive to collaborate on elements around beta creative exploration 
  • Asset build and potential for look dev/lighting for early conceptual compositing 
  • Work closely with Immersive Creative Director and Immersive Art Director on fast paced pitches to develop user experience content 
  • Generate rough concepts to explore new designs within the style of the show or brand activation 
  • When requested, create and present innovative ideas to enhance visual concepts and designs 
  • Superior eye and ability to translate a thorough understanding of color, composition, detail, texture and lighting into designs and/or painting 
  • Ensure all artwork is properly backed up, organized and stored appropriately 


  • 5+ years’ experience as a Concept or Visual Development Artist creating environment concept artwork for animation, film or video games 
  • Unique point of view, strong design foundation to execute on the creative vision 
  • Experience in creating both elevated architectural drawings and theatrical stage designs a bonus 
  • Enjoys ideation and iteration in a creative exploration process 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Is an enthusiastic team player, who genuinely enjoys working and collaborating with others 
  • Strong time-management skills and verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Willingness to take feedback, criticism and rework material while maintaining a fresh perspective 
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work under fast paced, high pressure with short deadlines.
