Look Development Artist

FuseFX has an opening in Los Angeles! We have opportunities at our studio for an experienced and talented Look Development Asset Artist with a background in television and/or feature film VFX to join our creative team.

We are looking for a Look Development Asset Artist with a background in creating high-end 3D work to create and build incredible characters, props, and environments. This is a generalist Look Development position, which requires skills in texturing, shading, and modeling for large scale assets and environments.  Candidates should have 5+ years of previous experience in all of these areas.

FuseFX is an Emmy-award winning visual effects and animation studio focused on producing photo-real digital effects for feature film, episodic television, and commercials.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver photorealistic and stylized assets of CG characters/creatures, vehicles, and environments under tight episodic television production schedules.
  • Build, sculpt, and maintain models while creating and optimizing UV layouts and topology.
  • Work with and support the CG Supervisors to fulfill the creative vision of the shows and related assets and models.
  • Maintain and evolve the department’s workflows and quality benchmarks in material and texture creation.
  • Meet tight production deadlines and shot quota targets while being able to work in a dynamic and fluid environment.
  • Work closely with other artists on multiple tasks and projects.

 Traits of a successful FuseFX Look Development Asset Artist:

  • Expert knowledge of modeling in Maya or 3DSMax.
  • Expert knowledge of Substance Painter and Designer, Mari, ZBrush, and Photoshop.
  • Skilled in concept design, sketching, illustration, or other similar traditional art.
  • Experience with Clarisse is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of rendering in VRay and Redshift is ideal, OSL desired but not mandatory.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas and a self-starter attitude.
  • Strong communication skills and the proven ability to work well in a team, along with the desire to troubleshoot and solve problems creatively and independently.
  • Effectively resolves problems and roadblocks as they occur.
