FX Supervisor

FuseFX Los Angeles is looking for an exceptionally skilled FX Supervisor to work on a team that is developing VFX for exciting projects!

FuseFX is an award-winning Visual Effects Studio providing visual effects services for episodic television, feature films, commercials, virtual and VR productions. Founded in 2006, the company employs 500+ personnel across seven studio locations: our flagship office in Los Angeles, CA, New York City, Vancouver, BC., and Atlanta. Our offices in Montreal, Toronto, and Bogota, are serviced by FOLKS VFX. Folks joined the FuseFX family of brands in 2020.

SKILLS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead a team of FX artists to create seamless visual sequences for multiple projects in an episodic TV environment.
  • Attend production and VFX meetings, location and tech scouts.
  • Bid on projects and evaluate FX needs with team.
  • Assist in recruitment duties, reviewing reels, making recommendations
  • Communicating effectively with clients, artists, and management, while guiding a shot from initial concept through final delivery
  • Excellent Houdini FX including photo realistic effects and lighting/shading skills.
  • Thorough understanding of simulation techniques and technologies relating to FX.

Traits of a successful FuseFX FX Supervisor:

  • Must have 8+ years of experience in simulated FX creation.
  • Python and VEX programming skills strongly desired.
  • Previous film, commercial, and/or episodic/streaming television experience is preferred.
  • Highly communicative self-starter who takes initiative to improve their workflows and final look, while contributing to a collaborative team culture and positive environment.
  • Works well within a team as well as independently
  • Able to effectively manage time and resources to create high quality effects in a fast-paced production environment while working within time and budgetary constraints.
  • Must be able to perform under tight deadlines and iterate on versions and techniques quickly.
  • Must work well in an environment of peers who are passionate about making great pictures.
  • Experience leading a team of FX artists in an episodic TV environment
  • Script breakdown, and bidding experience
  • Strong understanding of directory structure, file formats, naming conventions, scripts, automation tools, automated dailies
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills
  • Strong creative and technical abilities
  • Must be a team player and work well under tight deadlines
