Morehead Planetarium and Science Center at UNC
Chapel Hill is looking for a full time 3D Generalist.

This position is perfect for a media design and
animation specialist and would be responsible for
developing fulldome digital planetarium films, VR, exhibition
interactives, and other media designed to engage, inspire, and
entertain school children and the public about current science research. The position can be remote or on site in North Carolina. Flexible schedule, no crazy clients and tons of artistic freedom.
Salary Range: $47,900-$62,000 depending on experience
Also includes health insurance and 401k plans.
Qualification
and Experience Requirements
Strong eye
for cinematic composition and storytelling through
animation. Advanced knowledge of
professional-level 3D animation,
rendering, modeling, and motion
graphic tools. Ability to work with scriptwriters and build
storyboards and concept art. Interest in using digital media as a tool for
science education. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to
meet production deadlines. Ability to offer technical, creative, aesthetic, and
practical input into creating fulldome digital planetarium
films, VR, exhibition interactives, and other media. Excellent organizational
skills. Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
Education
Requirements:
Bachelors degree required in art, design, animation or other relevant field and 3 or more years of relevant experience required. Master’s degree preferred.
