Camera - Technical Project Manager

MSG is looking for a Project Manager with technical experience who will be responsible for delivering projects of medium to high complexity for MSG Ventures. The Camera/Capture team at MSG encompasses all aspects of creative capture, including cameras, multi-camera arrays, motion control, still cameras, pre-visualization, immersive media, optics, data storage and management, color, image evaluation, photogrammetry, with concurrent development in all of these areas.
Based in the Camera/Capture team, the Technical Project Manager will also work with colleagues and stakeholders across Creative Development, Software Engineering, Post-Production, and Playback teams to plan and execute projects of strategic importance to the organization, in the support of production, post-production, and playback.
An emphasis on delivery and communication with executives and internal and external stakeholders, as well as teamwork within a matrixed environment is required. This position requires a versatile experience base in both production and project management processes, and ideally, a background and/or experience with production technology.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS/ACTIVITIES SUMMARY:
Primary function and activities will include planning, organizing, managing, and tracking on the completion of specific technical projects to keep projects on time, on budget, and within scope.
Provide status reporting, budget tracking, and timeline and task tracking at all levels and stages of a project.
Ensure product definitions provided by colleagues contain the necessary information and relay appropriate feedback and questions to stakeholders
Utilize standard project management workflow to develop project plans and track budgets, resources, and key dates and milestones
Support Capture’s integration with other creative and technical teams to ensure project and production milestone alignment and symmetry
Create, maintain, and distribute project documentation, internal reporting, meeting minutes and deliverables.
Proactively identify project risks and dependencies and communicate these to the appropriate project lead
Maintain effective and clear communication to project sponsors, resources and management around project planning.
Maintain key customer and vendor relationships
5 years’ experience in production, post-production, and production project management
Self-motivated and able to anticipate stakeholder needs and stay ahead of potential issues.
Fluent in Microsoft Project and associated project management tools with experience building automated tracking dashboards and wikis.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Previous experience developing and managing vendor relationships.
Very strong communication is critical with a proven ability to identify key concepts and communicate effectively with business stakeholders and executive leadership.
Demonstrated expertise in planning, budgeting and project management. Prior experience in another business function within the media and entertainment space is a plus.
BA/BS in media, IT, business or equivalent practical experience; advanced education is a plus.
Experience in the entertainment and production industry preferred. Coordinator experience in a fast-paced production environment is a plus. Strong organizational skills are a must.
Be able to work calmly under pressure and/or challenging condition and manage multiple projects simultaneously
