Performance Director

Overview


Deck Nine Games is looking to hire a Performance Director to work with actors in delivering grounded, truthful, and emotionally impactful performances for interactive narrative adventure games. The person we are looking for is meticulous, patient, experienced with actors and comfortable with technology. 

Located near Boulder, Colorado, Deck Nine Games is a BAFTA and VGA nominated developer of narrative adventure games. Always innovating, we're growing and are seeking a new performance director to join our amazing team.

Our performance director will get to work intensely with the game director and narrative director to deeply understand the stories and characters. They will work regularly on our motion capture stage in Westminster, CO to direct the capture full-performance motion capture (pcap) performances, as well as in a VO booth for voice over sessions.

Currently a majority of the studio is remote, waiting until it is safe to return to the office. This position will be partially onsite/offsite until we are able to return to the studio full time. When we have work that necessitates onsite work, we have comprehensive COVID-19 procedures to be followed.


Requirements & Skills

  • 4+ years of experience as a Director of actors – film, television or theater

  • Experience with motion capture or facial capture is a bonus

  • Must be willing to relocate to the Denver, Colorado area

Bonus

  • Experience directing full-performance motion capture, or VO director

  • Experience as an editor, cinematographer or with Unreal Engine 4

  • Experience working with both SAGAFTRA and non-union projects

Deck Nine Games is an independent game developer dedicated to crafting interactive story games that inspire, transform, and entertain players. Our passion is storytelling games.

Our first narrative game, Life is Strange: Before the Storm is loved by fans and has won multiple awards, including Game of Year and was nominated for both a VGA and a BAFTA. Our second narrative game, Life is Strange: True Colors will be released on September 10, 2021. The studio is 100+ people and is in sunny Westminster, Colorado at the base of the Rocky Mountains. We eagerly await to share more information about our next title with Square Enix.
