Lead Full Stack Engineer

MSG is looking for a Lead Full Stack Engineer to join a groundbreaking post production department based in Los Angeles. This role is a developer working under the Director of Core Pipeline Software to develop tools to automate and optimize the production workflow from capture to playback. Candidates must demonstrate a track record of developing tools or software that are stable, well documented, easy to use, effective, and easy to maintain. MSG Sphere post production requires developers who are used to problem-solving in collaboration with their end-users and stakeholders, and flexible in modifying the solutions they build based on feedback. Sphere venues require an extreme level of integration between disciplines, as such the LA post production team desires out-of-the-box thinkers, creative problem solvers, and excellent collaborators. Ideal candidates will have experience creating and maintaining software tools to support Editorial, Color, Audio, QC, and VFX workflows, with a proven track record of creating artist-friendly software.

Specific Functions/Activities Summary

• Directly contribute to the architecture and development of software tools to automate tasks for capture, I/O, edit, VFX, color, QC, review, sound, and playback.

• Participate in the design of Core Pipeline service-oriented architecture.

• Work in direct collaboration with end users and stakeholders to determine solutions that scale and address problems in a user-friendly manner from proof-of-concept to deployment.

• Adhere to industry-standard conventions for coding and documentation.

• Identify potential optimizations or newer solutions to existing pipeline tools.

• Maintain a modular ecosystem of tools that supports all disciplines – from Capture, through Post, to Playback

• Minimum of 8 years in a full stack development role

• Strong experience in all major OS - Linux, MacOS, Windows

• Experience with Python 2 & Python 3

• Knowledge of SQL, Mongo, Postgres, NodeJS and Elasticsearch databases.

• Knowledge of basic Docker & Kubernetes concepts.

• Experience with Digital Asset Management Solution integration.

• Experience using AWS or other cloud services.

• Experience in Django or similar frameworks.

• Experience with GUI development in ReactJS or similar packages.

• Experience with version control tools like Git.

• Detail oriented with excellent communication and documentation skills.

• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, take criticism, and work under high pressure with tight deadlines.

• Good problem solving, troubleshooting, and debugging skills.

• Ability to collaborate with team members across different disciplines including directly interfacing with stakeholders to understand requirements.

SUPERVISION:

· Lead Full Stack Engineer, Core Pipeline Software will report to the Director of Core Pipeline Software, working closely with post-production management, Post Supervisors, and creative development teams.

· The role requires a self-directed “production-minded” work ethic helping to establish the language and medium of Sphere.

· As the team grows there is potential for expansion and direct reports to manage.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:

At the time of this posting, the MSG Sphere studio is operating in accordance to local guidance on safe Covid-19 regulations. As such, a remote work-from-home onboarding to MSG Sphere work is likely. While the studio technology team will support remote work, MSG is seeking applicants local to Los Angeles with the eventual expectation of working on site in our Burbank location.
