Senior Scientific Visualization Artist

Description

This Design Group is creating the next generation of clinical tools that harness the power of big data to deliver truly personalized medical and clinical insights to doctors, healthcare professionals and patients.  To do this, our world class team of designers, user researchers, interaction and behavioral scientists needs to grow.  We are looking for some short-term visual designers, interaction designers and a scientific visualization artist to bring problem-solving skills to deliver cohesive and compelling interface designs for these next generation digital tools.

You’ll dive deep into new spaces - understanding your users’ needs, workflows, motivations and how things work in the users’ realities. You love to explore a wide range of concepts and work collaboratively with teammates to quickly iterate, validate, and refine ideas together. You’re an organized, flexible, and motivated self-starter, comfortable iterating quickly and viewing constraints as creative opportunities.  You must be comfortable working with projects that are evolving quickly.

You take deep pleasure in empowering ordinary people by telling compelling and understandable visual stories to help them understand complex scientific concepts, large bodies of data and, often, their personal relationship with healthcare.  You are deeply experienced in visualizing and often animating infographics, and have started to explore how to expand your ability to explain complex ideas through interactivity. You are able to quickly sketch your way through ideas and work up iteratively from low-fidelity concepts to prototypes and final production.  

You have a robust toolbox, and ideally some experience working with Unity and scripting skills for pulling data streams from various sources. Experience with healthcare or medical illustration is a plus.

In addition to a minimum of 7 years professional experience, you have a degree in Data Visualization, Medical Illustration, Graphic Design, Interaction Design or equivalent.
