Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy
The Nicholson School of Communication and
Media (NSCM) and the FIEA (M.S. Interactive Entertainment) graduate program in
the College of Sciences at the University of Central
Florida (UCF) is seeking a highly motivated and exceptionally
qualified faculty to support the interdisciplinary team-based graduate
curriculum. The FIEA program is ranked
as the #1 graduate game design program by The Princeton Review. The successful candidate will be appointed as
a twelve-month, non-tenure earning
instructor or lecturer in the FIEA graduate program. The anticipated
employment start date will be on or before January 3, 2022.
The successful
candidate will contribute to the mission of NSCM through teaching courses at
the graduate level in FIEA and the undergraduate level in the Games and
Interactive Media (GaIM) program.
The instructional
assignments are expected to be in-person at the graduate level. Virtual technologies are utilized for team
and one-on-one instruction within the program and various modes may be applied
in any undergraduate assignment.
By the time of appointment, the successful candidate must hold a master's
degree in digital arts, interactive technologies or related field (for
instructor) from an accredited institution with game industry-related and/or
instructional experience; or a bachelor’s degree in digital arts, interactive
technologies or related field (for instructor) from an accredited institution
with extensive years of game industry-related and/or instructional experience;
or a terminal degree (for lecturer) in digital arts, interactive technologies
or related field from an accredited institution. The successful candidate will have
appropriate specialization in a majority of the following areas: level design,
game art asset pipeline, lighting, block design/whitebox, Blueprints Visual
Scripting, 3D digital art tools and technology. The successful candidate
must have evidence of effective teaching and/or mentoring.
Preference will be given to the candidate who also demonstrates knowledge
and experience in the Unreal game engine. Additional preference may be given to
candidates with the specified master’s degrees, more than 3 years of game
industry and/or instructional experience, and candidates with the specified
bachelor’s degrees and more than 7 years of game industry and/or instructional
experience.
Direction and
related duties may include recruitment and professional, instructional and
community service in the game and simulation industries.
