Director of Animation Programme

Programme Director of Animation and Interactive Media Programme (Ref: DCC210901)

Job Description
The Animation and Interactive Media (AIM) Programme is to provide students with an education that prepares them for careers in the areas of animated and interactive media of various industries, such as videos, films, games, advertising and education. Teaching staff should be qualified and experienced in teaching courses such as: Character Animation, Interactive Graphics, 3D Modelling, Multimedia Storytelling, 3D Animation, etc.

Apart from professional teaching, administrative experience in a higher education setting is much preferred, since the candidate is also expected to: 
1. Be responsible to the Dean and the Board of the Division concerned for the functioning, operation, teaching, research and development of the Programme;
2. Liaise and build up close links with the Dean of the Division, staff and students of the Programme(s);
3. Act as the Chairperson of the Program Management Committee and to be expected to carry out scrupulously the work/duty APPROVED by UIC senior management;
4. Assist the Dean with pedagogic, evaluative and supervisor responsibilities on matters related to staff assessment, teaching evaluation and leave applications etc.

Job Requirement 
Candidates should have a PhD degree in Animation and/or Interactive Media or a related discipline. The candidates should have commitment to engage in research relevant to the Programme and Division and with artistic, educational and industrial organizations nation-and-world wide.
Successful candidates are expected to be committed to excellence in undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and research. Administrative experience in a higher education setting is required. Preference will be given to candidates who can undertake independent research leading to outstanding outcomes, including publications in high quality international-refereed journals. Academic rank will be determined in accordance with successful candidate’s experience and research accomplishments.

Appointment Terms

Appointment to this position will initially be made on a fixed-term contract of two years. Commencing salaries will be commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience. Fringe benefits include housing allowance, leave and social insurance. Continuation of appointment beyond the initial term will be subject to mutual agreement.
