Game Designer

We are looking for an experienced and talented Game Designer who is self-motivated, goal-oriented and a strong team player to join our team at TinyBytes. We don't have strict processes that we need to follow but instead we create the process and deadlines independently as a team.

We are the creators of Massive Warfare, the ultimate multiplayer multi-vehicle war shooter mobile game with over 20 million downloads and Top 30 Grossing Action Game on Google Play. At TinyBytes currently no one has the title of "Game Designer". This is because most of the design decisions are made as a group effort. Everyone in the team is responsible for delivering the best possible experience. So whether you're an artist, programmer or community manager, you can contribute to the design. While decisions are made like this, it's still important to have someone who can lead and drive the overall vision and makes sure that every system in the game is tuned and plays well together with the rest. This person is the go-to whenever there is a question about a new feature, existing design or an event going on in the game, including level design, economy design, retention features and monetization features.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deep experience in game design/systems and balancing game economies, including lead or senior design experience on a shipped product; someone looking to have the opportunity to design from scratch and ultimately launch a global hit game that hundreds of millions of players will play
  • Extensive ideas of new game prototypes, have completely owned the design of early game concepts to full global game launch
  • Ability to think logically with a high level of attention to detail
  • Strong & concise communicator of game concepts
  • Hunger and passion for making and playing games; being curious and thinking critically about why games succeed and fail
  • Open and flexible enough to receive & adjust design choices upon valid feedback, but strong enough to back your own ideas & opinions
  • Programming skills (C#) and knowledge of Unity are a plus but not mandatory; ability to think with the precision of an engineer and creativity of an artist is highly desired
  • Looking to be a leader but also knows when is the right time to support & follow
  • Work closely with product owners, other designers, and the pod to design, monetize, and implement new features and content
  • Shepherd them to completion at a high degree of quality.
  • Model and balance complex systems like combat, economy, and characters
  • Use your monetization knowledge of F2P 4x/Strategy to create features and content that maintain and improve core KPIs
  • Produce and update game briefs/specs that contain the right level of detail while staying concise and readable
  • Contribute to the production roadmap with meaningful features, ideas, and improvements
  • Become the ultimate expert on the game, and all its virtues and flaws.
  • Design and document new features which materially improve the game KPIs
  • Review and supervise feature development, driving high quality execution
  • Advise on the creation of the game’s content, characters, fights, and rewards
  • Master the game’s economy and balance, and integrate it into every design
  • Devise feature and content strategies which create a healthy game life cycle
  • Drive evaluation and iteration of existing designs to maximize their potential.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Direct experience working on a top 100 grossing mobile game
  • Previous experience on top-grossing strategy or 4x titles a plus
  • Passion for games and game design spanning console, mobile, social, and indie
  • 3-7 years of professional game design experience with a focus on mid-core+, strategy games, or similar
  • Demonstrated proficiency with systems design, game tuning, economy design, user experience design, and design documentation
  • Deep understanding of free-to-play monetization mechanics including game balancing and virtual economy management
  • Extensive experience working on gacha-driven RPGs and/or strategy titles
  • Advanced expertise in game economies, game balance, and content design
  • Experience inventing, developing, and refining new game feature designs
  • Ability to work well as the creative leader and a vision holder for a product
  • Excellent communication and ability to work as part of a leadership team
  • Fluency in English
  • A love of teamwork
  • Passion for games
