Systems Engineer

We’re looking for an experienced Systems Engineer for our London studio. Join us!

 

Reports to: Head of Systems

Role: Systems Engineer

Location: London

Contract: Full time (40 hours per week)

 

The Role:

As a Systems Engineer you’ll be involved in all aspects of IT operations and primarily provide support and solutions for our motion graphics and VFX departments. You will oversee and manage the technology and systems the business uses and take ownership of this responsibility.

 

Responsibilities:

 ·      Provide user support and maintain high standards of problem resolution.

·      Manage and implement hardware/software upgrades and security patches on servers, network infrastructure and end user devices.

·      Optimize and maintain SOE.

·      Ensure the availability and performance of core services including the network, servers and storage.

·      Manage backup and archiving and ensure the integrity of data.

·      Make recommendations on any new technology or processes that can improve the day to day running of our systems.

·      Work with different departments to develop and improve workflows.

·      Anticipate production needs and plan for resources.

·      Diagnose and repair faulty hardware.

·      Create and maintain documentation to help build a knowledge base on our intranet.

·      Provide advice and direction to other team members to help with their development

 

Experience with the following:

·      Windows, macOS and to a lesser extent Linux.

·      Typical design/VFX software – Adobe, Cinema 4D, Nuke, Maya, Houdini, Unreal Engine.

·      Cloud computing and storage.

·      Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Samba, file permissions.

·      Network configuration (next-generation firewalls, L3 switches, VPN, wireless, VLANS).

 

Interest and knowledge of information security standards and practices:

·      Render farm management.

·      Virtualization technologies.

·      Automation and configuration management.

·      Backup and disaster recovery best practices.

·      Remote workflows

 

Requirements:

·      4+ years in a similar role in the creative or Media and Entertainment industry.

·      In depth knowledge of Windows and macOS.

·      Strong network configuration and troubleshooting skills
