UI Artist

Deck Nine is looking for a passionate UI Artist to join our team for a full-time position. This job can be fully remote or on site at our headquarters in Westminster, CO.


Our game menu systems are crafted graphical experiences with the right character and personality to match the kinds of games we make. The role of a UI Artist doesn't stop at the menu system; it also must reflect the over-arching art direction of the game. Responsibilities also include in-game HUD elements, 2D prop elements, and more.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop engaging graphics and consistent user interface styles
  • Design efficient, effective, engaging, and appealing user interfaces that serve the needs of our players and improve the overall experience within our games
  • Ability to create clear and organized wireframe concepts to test UX flow
  • Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to learn to prototype, test, and implement UI game elements and systems within the Unreal Engine
  • Research, learn, and share new UI/UX technology and production techniques with the team
  • Dovetail the style with intended art direction through collaboration with Art Director, Engineering and Design
  • Continually study and develop styles inspired by modern examples of motion graphics in games, film, advertising, and fine art
Desired Qualifications:
  • A minimum of two years of experience developing UI art within the game industry
  • Proficiency in UI Art and UX Design
  • Experience with the Unreal Editor
  • Proficiency with software packages Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects
  • Game(s) shipped as UI / game shell artist
  • Strong portfolio of graphic art, typography, and motion graphics
  • Excellent work ethic, self-motivation, and is able to accept constructive criticism and direction
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, demonstrating an ability to work in a creative and positive manner with the team
  • Excellent time management and scheduling skills
  • A willingness to learn and adapt to new visual styles, workflows, tools, and pipelines
  • Passionate about helping tell great interactive stories in games
  • Strong typography skills as well as the ability to create and edit complete font sets
  • Great sense of modern visual styles
  • BA or BFA from accredited school
  • Proficiency with 3D modeling packages such as Maya or Max are a plus

Salary: $55,000-$85,000 DOE

It is estimated based on what a successful Colorado applicant might be paid. It assumes that the successful candidate will be in Colorado or perform the position from Colorado. Similar positions located outside of Colorado will not necessarily receive the same compensation. **
