Description
The UX team at Weta Digital is in charge of implementing design thinking processes within teams across the studio creating and effecting user experiences every day.
We are looking for an experienced designer who can help plan and deliver UX training, help build up our UX knowledge base, and evangelise good user-centred design processes through both targeted coaching and also project work that you will be deployed on.
The long term vision is clean and consistent user experiences for our crew, and autonomy within the development teams for leaner UX processes within smaller projects. This is an opportunity to play a part and make your mark informing and growing the UX discipline at our large technology and visual effects company.
You will be responsible for:
- Working with the UX team to craft and deliver targeted training for our crew who create experiences
- Contributing to our knowledge base which covers many areas including a style guide and documented UX processes
- Gathering and synthesizing user and business requirements from multiple sources including users, developers, stakeholders, and system architects
- Challenging assumptions by carrying out qualitative research
- Meeting and collaborating with users and developers to validate conceptual designs
- Communicating design decisions with diagrams, wireframes, and detailed mock ups, leading to functional engaging prototypes with refined interaction and usability.
You will bring:
- An understanding of contemporary user-centred design methodologies
- A proven track record working on highly functional interfaces for full featured applications and complex workflows
- Strong verbal and writing skills including an ability to communicate successfully with users to understand their work
- Strong conceptualization abilities, visual communication abilities, drawing/illustration skills essential
- An ability to create beautiful interfaces that are clean, clear, and easy to use, that balance technical constraints against user goals
- A go-getter attitude and an ability to drive process creation and momentum in an environment where process is lacking.
You might have:
- Experience designing for complex desktop applications
- Experience working for a visual effects company or other equivalent CGI company
- An understanding of software development practices/methodologies like Agile.
