Rendering Supervisor

The Position 

As a Rendering Supervisor, you will support the growth of the Animation department by leveragingyour experience managing and improving a render farm in tandem with the needs of Production.  

You will manage render farm resources to maximize utilization, troubleshoot and correct failing rendertasks, and provide support for render-time optimization. You will set up, maintain, and improve the performance of server-side software for render management. Prioritizing farm usage across projects based on the needs of the studio, you will research and recommend technologies and strategies to improve the farm. Finally, you will work closely with render wranglers and other stakeholders to ensure production needs are met, while ensuring documentation of tools and best-practices are maintained. This role can work remotely or based in the Austin, TX office. 

The Candidate 

A strong candidate will have a proven track record of technical knowledge, interpersonal skills, and production experience, along with: 

  • Previous render farm hardware and render farm management software experience 
  • Knowledge of render management systems (Deadline or OpenCue preferred) 
  • Knowledge in 3D Content Creation Tools (Maya, 3DS Max, Nuke, etc.) 
  • Scripting experience in Python 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills 
  • Familiarity with FX, Lighting and Compositing in Animation Productions 
  • Strong technical capabilities and ability to debug render artefacts or render farm issues 

While not required, experience using production tracking systems (I.e. Shotgun/Shotgrid) and software deployment systems (I.e. SmartDeploy) is preferred.
