Assistant/Associate Professor to teach Animation, Motion Design, VFX, and Virtual Production

Seeking applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant/associate professor in Animation in the Department of Media Arts at Middle Tennessee State University. Start date is August 1, 2022. 

The successful candidate is expected to teach a range of aspects of the animation industry such as preproduction, 3D, 2D, motion graphics, VFX, compositing, visualization, and animation aesthetics using current industry-standard tools. The successful candidate is expected to have experience with Adobe Creative Suite and other high-end 2D or 3D animation software. 

A terminal degree in Animation or closely related field by appointment date. A Master’s degree in Animation or a closely related field with at least five (5) years of industry experience may be considered in lieu of the terminal degree. A minimum of two (2) years of teaching animation at the college level and two (2) years of animation industry experience is required. 

Those with the following software/experience will receive special consideration: Autodesk Maya, Toon Boom Harmony, Maxon Red Giant, Unreal Engine, Unity, Python scripting, C++ scripting, or VR/AR/MR/XR. In addition, those with drawing and draftsmanship skills will receive special consideration.
