Lead Modeler

Description

Brazen Animation is seeking a Lead Modeler with strong technical ability of all levels in-house for various upcoming projects. FOr the right candidate, we will consider full time REMOTE!

We are looking for someone with great communication skills and a passion for creating beautiful assets! An artist who is an enthusiastic collaborator willing to work closely with peers on a daily basis to create all types of assets and environments. Able to texture in both stylized and realistic scenarios a plus. 

Responsibilities

  • Model/sculpt assets as needed when not leading other modelers.

  • Stay proactive to the modeling needs of the other departments, both technicals and aesthetics. 

  • Review all the model and environment designs with the Director and Art Director for functionality and feasibility and give critiques to artist with constructive feedback

  • Estimate/bid the modeling time required for each asset keeping in mind time and budget constraints

  • Work with the Director & the Producer to meet the needs of the Director/Clients.

  • Actively maintain communication with other departments.

  • Perform final checks of completed models and environments.

  • Supervise the sculpting of digital maquettes, meshes and troubleshoot/repair existing models

  • Assign work to Modelers according to their skill level, preference and production priority with a learning opportunity in mind.

  • Consistently track progress, identify any issues/problems, and take corrective action with team members.

Qualifications

  • Have an excellent modeling portfolio and/or demo reel

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Feature Film, Commercial and/or Video Game production

  • Knowledge of current industry production processes.

  • Ability to communicate creative and technical thoughts/idea and give/receive feedback

  • Ability to make creative/artistic/aesthetic judgement calls.

  • Prior experience in supervising or training

  • Proficient with Maya and Zbrush and any other preferred modeling packages

  • Understand the needs of rigging and animation in order to create properly deforming meshes

  • Understand the needs of surfacing, including ability to create UV sets

  • Experience or strong interest in any other discipline within the pipeline to easily pivot when needed

  • knowledge of Substance suite, Unreal Engine, marmoset toolbag, marvelous designer or xgen a huge plus

  • Must have solid communication skills and work well within a team

  • Flexible and highly adaptable in a fast-paced, dynamic, high pressure, start-up environment

  • Strong work-ethic with lots of grit

  • Time management skills, ability to receive and execute notes in a timely manner

  • Strong problem solving skills
