Assistant Professor of Immersive
and Emerging Media
The
Department of Film, Animation and New Media within the College of Arts and
Letters at The University of Tampa is seeking a Tenure Track Assistant
Professor of virtual technology and media to teach classes in interactive
experiences, virtual production, virtual immersive environment development, and
multimedia production beginning in August 2021.
The
University of Tampa is a medium-sized, comprehensive, residentially-based
private institution of more than 10,000 undergraduate and graduate
students. The University is ideally situated on a beautiful 110-acre
campus next to the Hillsborough River, adjacent to Tampa's dynamic central
business district, which is a growing, vibrant, diverse metropolitan
area. UT reflects this vibrancy; with 24 consecutive years of enrollment

The
teaching load is 3 courses (12 credit hours) per semester over two 15-week
semesters per academic year. Successful applicants will hold a terminal degree
such as an MFA, MPS, or PhD by time of appointment to teach undergraduate and
possibly graduate courses.
Ideal candidates should have a strong background with game engines such as
Unreal Engine, as well as creating immersive environments. We highly value
those candidates who can demonstrate teaching excellence. In addition, we are
especially seeking someone with the ability to use Sequencer to create
cutscenes, and narrative content. Experience of blueprints and other scripting
languages is also highly desirable. Game development, virtual production
and cinematography skills are a plus.
