Role Summary

MSG is looking for a Metadata Wrangler to join a groundbreaking post production department based in Los Angeles. This role will support the Studio team responsible for creating experiences for MSG Sphere. The Metadata Wrangler will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating data collection and note-taking efforts on all Sphere Studios shoots and capture sessions. This role will also be involved in pre & post-production data management and note taking, VFX coordination, and script supervision. This is a unique role that bridges multiple departments, overseeing and coordinating the acquisition of data from all sources as it is generated from a shoot all the way through Post into a library of learnings and sample media.

Specific Functions/Activities Summary

  • Act as the coordinator of all metadata created or captured on set between departments.
  • Ensure all relevant metadata is being captured on set, including notes on everything that was shot including slate info, creative reactions on set, continuity notes, camera notes, VFX data, etc.
  • Review scripts and storyboards before each shoot and monitor all sources of information during the shoot. Keep detailed records and notes throughout.
  • Be the key person for compiling notes after the shoot and adding to a media asset management system.
  • Ensure asset management and metadata collection and organization workflows are maintained during shoots.
  • Work closely with the Media Asset Manager so that data is formatted in a way that is consistent with MSG Sphere’s Library standard for long term accessibility and findability of media assets.
  • Collaborate across teams to update Sphere’s custom taxonomy as needed.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of various camera formats, production and post-production codecs and technical specifications is desirable.
  • Knowledge of industry metadata standards and systems.
  • Must be skilled at documentation and able to work quickly and accurately in a high speed production environment.
  • Experience working on set and in a production environment as a camera assistant, script supervisor, data manager, or VFX crew is highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of production and post-production processes and workflows.
  • Experience with digital and media asset management systems is a plus.
  • Proven track record working on multiple fast-paced projects in a large organization.
  • Excellent problem solving, attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Must be a team player and work well under tight deadlines.
