Senior Sound Editor

Role Summary

MSG is looking for a Senior Sound Editor to join a groundbreaking post-production department based in Los Angeles. As the content delivery team for the MSG Sphere projects, we strive to create world-class content at an unprecedented scale on the largest LED screens ever made, with a massive multi-channel sound system of unprecedented complexity and quality. The Senior Sound Editor role requires experience in 3D sound formats across the audio pipeline, from ingesting sound assets and track lay, through to sound design and rerecording mixing. This position requires a hands-on post production audio expert who can self-organize and work seamlessly with other MSG departments. This role will require expertise in large-scale, multi-channel experiences and an individual who can work within an end-to-end audio pipeline. The Senior Sound Editor will interface directly with our Sound Supervisor and Pipeline departments to define needs, recommend solutions, and provide timely feedback to steer their efforts to support and optimize sound processes.

Specific Functions/Activities Summary

  • Manage the implementation of high-quality audio assets from capture and into the audio pipeline.
  • Manage project organization, structures, setups, and optimizations.
  • Apply best practices of technical spatial audio workflows and systems.
  • Collaborate with Sound Supervisor to ensure work streams are fully integrated and in alignment with playback systems
  • Manage the testing of new spatial audio solutions.
  • Evaluate and recommend audio tools from outside vendors as needed.
  • Create 3D audio mixes for content reviews, using popular DAW’s

Qualifications

  • Associates degree preferred or additional production certificate programs.
  • Minimum of 5 year’s experience in audio capture for film, television, video games or virtual reality.
  • Thorough knowledge of mixing software such as Reaper, Pro Tools, Logic Pro and Ableton. common post-production software such as Waves, Izotope and Cedar Studio and library management software, such as Soundminer
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, take criticism, and work under high pressure with tight deadlines while maintaining team cohesion.
