Manager Virtual Production & Motion Capture

Role Summary

The Manager of Virtual Production and Motion Capture will outfit, deploy, and supervise internal and external capture teams applying relevant virtual camera and motion capture technology for Sphere main shows and other Sphere internal and external applications.

Specific Functions/Activities Summary

• Lead the creation, operation, and troubleshooting of MSG Virtual Production Toolset
• Assist with asset ingest, scene setup, optimization, and validation of scene performance
• Assist with troubleshooting issues involving assets, virtual camera data, mocap data, and interactive tools
• Setup and calibration of virtual cameras and connections to any to live action cameras
• Routing of all video signals for display, monitoring, and playback
• Setup and calibration of mocap actors and real time retargeting
• Recording takes and working with production on tracking of shot/scenes
• Stay at the forefront of virtual production capture tools, from camera tracking and LED displays to post workflows and mastering technologies to support ongoing consistency, quality, and efficiency improvements across virtual content creation.
• Collaborate with other real time visualization and interactive teams within the organization

• Bachelors Degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
• 5+ years experience in real time game engines (Preferably Unreal and Unity)
• 3+ years experience in virtual production, virtual reality, or location based interactive experiences

• Excellent understanding of modern game engine renderers and virtual production techniques and how those tools fit into modern production workflows
• Strong scripting abilities in C++, C#, and Python

• Strong understanding of source control tools (Perforce a plus)
• Understanding of digital video production, digital workflows, cinematography, and/or post production environment
• Adaptable/flexible in high-stress environments
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Willing to travel when needed
