The Department of Art and Design at Augusta University seeks
outstanding applicants for a full-time tenure-track position at
the rank of Assistant Professor, with a specialization in
Animation. This position will teach three studio courses
per semester, participate in departmental service and sustain a practice of
creative scholarship and professional relationships. The successful hire will
contribute to the newly launched and quickly growing BFA track
in Animation and teach some foundational-level courses,
including Color Experience (theory). This position requires proficiency in
tools related to 2D animation such as the Adobe Creative Cloud (including
Animate, After Effects, and Photoshop) and Toon Boom Harmony. Additional
skills with Autodesk Maya, Substance Painter, Zbrush, Procreate, Adobe
Illustrator, and Adobe Character Animator are desirable.
Potential courses to be taught include 2D Animation,
Color Theory, Previsualization, 3D Animation, Motion Graphics, Short Format
Storytelling, Production Animation, 2D Design, and Drawing I and II.
This is a tenure-track faculty position (9-month contract)
with duties to begin in August 2022.

The Department of Art and Design at Augusta University is
NASAD accredited. The department is actively engaged in peer-recognized,
tier-one level national and international research, scholarship, and creative
enterprises. It curates an outstanding contemporary art gallery on-campus,
the Mary S. Byrd Gallery. Recent guests have included Ron Diamond of the
Animation Show of Shows as well as industry professionals
from Hi-Res Studios, Kinetic Vision, Epipheo,
and Bento Box. Recent guest Artist Talks have included Chris
Buck, Danielle Rante, and Jason Hoelscher.
This is a (9-month contract), tenure track, faculty position
with duties to begin in Aug. 2022.
