UI Artist (CONTRACT/TEMP)
Description
The Mid UI Artist is responsible for conceptualizing and creating in-game UI artwork. Working under the Art Director you will be expected to collaborate within a team of UI/UX designers and artists, engineers, and gameplay designers, to create intuitive systems and assets to the highest standards for all areas of front-end and in-game UI related artwork.
Responsibilities
Exercise a deep understanding of games industry, interactive media art styles and aesthetics.
Create and implement UI artwork within defined look and feel.
Conceptualize, develop, present, and execute ideas on schedule.
Iterate on art and design concepts based on feedback.
Actively participate in artistic, design, and technical problem solving.
Contribute to group peer reviews and feedback in a constructive manner.
Create flow charts and wireframes demonstrating menu and user story flow.
Create functional prototypes and animatics demonstrating UI interaction models.
Utilize motion graphics software to develop assets for transitions and other animated UI elements.
Prepare and implement art assets into UE4
Demonstrate understanding of the game’s branding, design, functionality, and technical requirements
Troubleshoot, seek solutions, and ask questions.
Balance, organize, and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
Have a passion for games and interactive media.
Requirements
2+ year of professional experience designing for games and/or interactive media, including at least one shipped title.
Strong communication skills to present visuals, concepts and ideas
Proficiency with commercial-quality art tools (e.g., Photoshop, Max/Maya, etc.)
Strong collaboration and communication skills.
Excellent time management skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work on a team.
A real passion for games!
Pluses
Experience working with UE4's UI toolset
Understand how to use shader networks to improve UI
Previous FPS military shooter experience
UX Design experience
Submission/Portfolio Requirements
Portfolio demonstrating relevant artistic skills required
Only online artwork submissions will be accepted (e.g. website, blog, or online album)
This is a full-time contract position available to work remotely or based out of our Irvine, CA studio.
