Systems Engineer

AV&C is seeking an experienced AV/IT Engineer to join our interdisciplinary experience design studio - we create expressive and responsive digital landmarks in the physical world for leading brands and institutions.
A successful candidate will have extensive experience in overseeing system builds and commissioning, an ability to workshop problems with cross-functional teams, and an interest in expanding their own skill set. This is a full time position based in our studio in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, NYC, with salary commensurate to experience.
As a member of our engineering team reporting to the Director of Systems, you will be contributing to the design, management and implementation of the systems that bring our projects to life.
Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Developing final bill of materials; specifying power distribution systems, AV and data networking systems, equipment rack hardware, and interconnect cables
• Leading in-studio builds of equipment racks, mock-ups and demo systems
• Configuration and management of AV/IT equipment
• Overseeing and supporting on-site installations and systems commissioning efforts
• Working in close collaboration with internal and external IT professionals, designers, engineers, technologists and project management.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in AV/IT; design/build a plus
• Network management a plus
• A strong work ethic and excellent time management skills.
• Excellence, comfort, and effectiveness in communicating with humans in person and across the range of tools we use to keep in touch
• Ability to thrive in an interdisciplinary environment
• Proven understanding and application of best practice in AV/IT systems builds.
• Experience working with and leading subcontractor crews and in construction environments.
• Working knowledge of AV programming systems such as DSP or control systems.
• Enthusiastic self learner and generally self motivated.
