Senior Game Designer

Description

SENIOR GAME DESIGNER

Reporting to the Associate Producer and be responsible for taking game ideas from concept to completion. You are expected to be a storyteller, world builder and architect of the overall game experience. As a multitalented individual you may be involved in some scripting if necessary. You will work closely with the game producers to ensure that the overall vision and direction of the game is adhered to.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Delivering excellence 
    • Under the supervision of the Producer and Director, work with artists and programmers to make sure that the creative vision is fulfilled. 
    • Design fun and immersive gameplay mechanics and meta-game features and drive them from concept to release. 
    • Develop exciting new enemy groups for players to combat. 
    • Create fun and balanced missions and encounters. 
    • Assist in checking and ensuring the quality of game version, and ensure the features are implemented correctly.
  • Communication 
    • Creates and maintains design documentation that keep pace with the project’s progress and accurately conveys all information to the Design, Art and Engineering teams. 
    • Set clear creative goals and deliverable to the Art & Engineering teams.
  • Team and personal development 
    • Proactively work to improve the product on a day-to-day basis (propose improvements to levels etc). 
    • Create new systems to further the depth and replayability of our games 
    • Identify new technologies and processes that can be implemented in our games 
    • Contribute and help build a positive team environment

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional game design experience: Proven experience implementing complete systems from concept to delivery. 
  • Strong knowledge of Game Design concepts (gameplay, learning curve, core game loop, balancing, reward system, player retention mechanics, etc) 
  • Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal. Able to illustrate and/or prototype ideas visually using standard industry tools (Photoshop, 3D Studio Max, etc.) 
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership 
  • Ability to work well under pressure and with deadlines 
  • Veteran game player: Knowledge of classic console video games, their flagship titles and their audience 
  • Deep understanding of the games industry landscape, market opportunities and player expectations 
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 

BENEFICIAL SKILLS

  • Shipped at least one title, physically (i.e. on disc), on a console platform 
  • Familiar with current-generation (PS4/XB1) TRC/TCRs
