Cinematic Technical Artist

Deck Nine Games is looking to hire a remote Technical Artist help support our cinematics pipeline.

Located near Boulder, Colorado, Deck Nine Games is a BAFTA and VGA nominated developer of narrative adventure games. Always innovating, we're growing and are seeking additional Technical Artists to join our team.

Responsibilities

•  Gather character, prop, environment and animation assets, and then assemble cinematic sequences in our proprietary cinematic tool, StoryTeller.

•  Troubleshoot a wide variety of technical problems using Unreal Engine, Maya, and proprietary tools.

•  Implement technical features into games like rumble passes, cinematic/gameplay triggers, state markers.

•  Work directly with our tools team to identify, report, and resolve bugs with our internal toolset.

•  Offer technical support to the cinematics team.

•  Act as a bridge of communication between Mocap, Cinematics and Animation.

•  Work with a high level of organization.

•  Able to balance work with diverse tasks and shifting priorities.

 

 

 

Requirements & Skills

•  Experience with Unreal Engine 4 Sequencer, Unreal Matinée, Valve Source Filmmaker, Unity Sequences, Maya, Blender Video Sequencer, or other digital cinematic toolset.

•  Demonstrate an extraordinary attention to detail and the ability to solve problems on the fly.

•  Possess excellent troubleshooting abilities, both creatively and technically.

•  Proactive with identifying areas for improvement and pursuing solutions for them.

•  Able to collaborate with anyone effectively, actively fostering a humble environment of teaching, learning, and growing within the team.

•  Possess clear, efficient communication skills.

•  Portfolio or reel demonstrating your work

 

 

Bonus

•  You have a deep desire to push cinematic storytelling in video games.

•  Experience with filmmaking, cinematography, or as an assistant editor.

•  Experience with a scripting language like Python.

 

 

Salary Range:  DOE

In 2021 we released Life is Strange True Colors, which went on to win multiple awards for storytelling and visuals, including best storytelling for 2021 and a VGA for Games for Impact. Recently we announced that we are developing a game for the hit sci-fi Amazon series, The Expanse.
