Who are we hiring?
MSG is looking for a team of experienced and motivated AV Technicians to join our cutting-edge live production team based in Los Angeles, California. As part of the Playback Department, our AV Technicians will work with our internal departments and external vendors to support the technology needs of our VIP tour facility and production facility. As we move closer to the opening of MSG Sphere, our Sphere Studios location is ramping up in the development of the technology and shows. To support this growth, we will be operating throughout regular business hours, evenings, overnights and weekends. Due to the scale of the facility and the technology installed, the candidates will be comfortable working at heights, and will have experience in operating boom lifts and with rope work. The ideal candidates will possess certification for working at height. This role will encounter times when the candidate needs to work in challenging physical scenarios with their arms and hands extended overhead for a period of time whilst carrying out maintenance on large LED displays. This role will work with our studio operations and maintenance teams to ensure the 24/7 operation of our test sites.
What will you do?
• Work within the Playback department to maintain our advanced audio-visual systems
• Provide technical support for technology initiatives at Sphere Studios
• Remove and install LED modules on large, curved LED screens
• Operate and provide preventative maintenance on elevated work platforms, including boom lifts
• Work 2nd/3rd shift plus weekends as needed
• Evaluate and recommend AV tools from outside vendors as needed
• Document maintenance logs and RMA components
• Read, create, maintain and upkeep drawings, support and manual documentation
• Ability to manage projects and provide daily field reports
• Ensure compliance with company protocols and procedures
• Ability to work without supervision
• Must be able to regularly lift 20-50 lbs as part of the daily job duties
What do you need to succeed?
• Minimum of 3+ years' experience as an AV Technician in live event production – including corporate, rock ‘n roll, Broadway, touring etc.
• Experience as a certified ETCP rigger strongly preferred
• Experience installing and maintaining LED displays, PA systems, theatrical lighting, overhead rigging, cabling systems
• Ability to use power tools, AV tools, networking tools
• Proficiency in software and hardware skills required for the operation and maintenance of a wide range of AV equipment
• OSHA 10 preferred
