Senior Software Engineer (Graphics and Pipeline)

Who are we hiring?
As a Senior Software Engineer at MSG Sphere Studios, you’re part of a veteran multidisciplinary team driving performance, developing tools and creative assets for real-time interactive experiences on the MSG Sphere, our 20,000 seat immersive venue in Las Vegas. Your in-depth technical knowledge and strong aesthetic inclination let you tackle projects and provide support on complicated technical issues for artists and engineers alike across our real-time content development ecosystem. As an ideal candidate you bring a comprehensive understanding of real-time and standard production art pipelines, rendering optimization expertise, creative vision and a passion for delivering performant massively multiplayer real-time experiences. 16K. 60fps. What will you do?

• Establish and maintain a robust real-time development workflow and keep the team up to speed via training and documentation.
• Prototype and test new features – help to develop the tools and techniques for creating content efficiently.
• Provide specifications and best practice guidance for artists creating assets for use in real-time rendering applications.
• Analyze technical and design documentation and requests, translating them into discrete and manageable engineering tasks
• Mentor peers and more junior team members through code and design reviews
• Liaise with other departments, bridging practical knowledge across concept artists, production artists, and engineers.
• Document and communicate our real-time platform requirements with relevant hardware and software vendors.
• Stay on top of the latest industry developments, sharing key findings with the team at regular intervals. Attend and update in daily scrums, bi-weekly sprint planning sessions, reviews, and retrospectives in accordance with the team’s Agile practices


What do you need to succeed?

• Computer Science BS/MS or equivalent experience
• 5+ years professional game platform engineering experience
• Excellent communications and team relations skills
• Demonstrated proficiency in creating shaders & materials (GLSL and/or HLSL)
• Expertise in Unreal / C++ & blueprints / Python and/or Unity / C#
• Professional experience working with pipelines for high-resolution 2D, 3D, and audio

Additional Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working in an Agile team and familiarity with Agile methodology
• Experience with common games industry production software (MS Office, JIRA, Miro)
• Experience across all phases (concept to end-of-life) of at least one shipped AAA console or PC video game
• Interest and/or secondary skills in another key game development discipline (Game Design, Product Management, Art, Audio)
